From the Rector: Cancelling services due to COVID-19
This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.
Thursday 26 March 2020
Dear Beloved Members of Church of the Holy Comforter,
Per Bishop Gutierrez’s instructions issued 23 March, Sunday services at Church of the Holy Comforter are suspended until at least May 4, after which the diocese and our church leaders will reassess the situation. We are living through trying times in many ways. During this period that we are being advised (and in some cases forced) to keep away from one another, it will take the creativity of all of us to stay connected, to help one another, to keep each other company, and to continue reflecting the light of Christ in our lives.
One obvious way to stay connected is through e-mail and social media. Some of us do one but not the other; some do neither. As announced elsewhere on this website beginning Sunday 29 March we will gather together via Zoom to worship and hear the Word of God spoken into our lives in a service of Morning Prayer. I encourage all of us to identify and think about those of us who do not use computers, and come up with ideas as to what we can do to keep them connected to the Holy Comforter community as well.
Please let us keep one another, the nation, and the whole world in heartfelt prayer during this time of crisis and anxiety.
God bless you all,
(The Rev. Dr.) Thomas Eoyang, Jr.
Rector, The Church of the Holy Comforter
