Who We Are

We are a church that is Biblical, Sacramental, and Relational. Here’s what we mean by that:

Biblical

At Holy Comforter, our faith is grounded in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. And what we believe about Jesus, and how we learn to know and love him in our hearts, come  from that ancient set of writings known as the Holy Bible, which we hear in worship both from the readings of the day and in the language that suffuses our Book of Common Prayer. Our faith is summarized in the words of the Apostles’ Creed and the Nicene Creed which help us to understand what the Bible teaches.

Sacramental

The God we believe in isn’t a distant abstraction. We believe in a God who loves us so much that He was willing to live among us and to die for us. Through the Sacraments, we strive for unity with God by forming ourselves as the body of Christ. In Holy Baptism, we are united with Jesus and our sinful hearts are wiped clean. In the Holy Eucharist, which is sometimes called Holy Communion or the Lord’s Supper, we receive the Body and Blood of Our Lord Jesus through which we are forgiven and made whole. Our God is a God who can be seen, touched, tasted, and known. Click here to learn more about the Sacraments.

Relational

Because God has loved us, we want to love and serve others. At Holy Comforter, we invite all people to come into deep relationship with Jesus Christ. We want to meet you, to know you, and to share God’s love with you, no matter who you are, no matter what you’ve done, no matter what you believe. We invite you to come and worship with us on a Sunday, or to join us in any of our efforts at service to our community and to our world. We especially invite those of you who are searching, skeptical, or suffering. Click here to read our vision and to learn how God is calling us to engage with the world around us.
