We believe in love and we seek to live that belief out in the world.
At Holy Comforter, we’ve come to know what love is through the teaching and the example of Jesus. As we’ve learned to trust him, we’ve discovered that our lives are not random, that we’re not alone, that there’s meaning and purpose behind everything.
Our church is part of the Diocese of Pennsylvania, which is part of the Episcopal Church here in the United States, which is part of the worldwide Anglican Communion, which is part of the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church that Jesus established. All of that is to say that we aren’t just spiritual free agents, lost in the wilderness and making it up as we go along. We’ve inherited a rich and vibrant tradition of faith that connects us with people all over the world and throughout history. We believe that the story of God is too big and too important for any one of us to have to go it alone.
As Anglican Christians, we believe that the story of God’s great love is told to us through the Bible and revealed to us in Jesus, the only Son of God the Father. We also believe that God has sent his Holy Spirit to us and that the Spirit will guide us and form us. Our faith is summarized in the words of the Apostle’s Creed and the Nicene Creed. We believe that God speaks to us through prayer, through scripture, and especially through the holy sacraments.
And we believe in you.
We believe that God loves you and that God created you with a purpose. We believe that Jesus lived for you, died for you, and rose again for you, so that you could be forgiven, blessed, and made whole. We believe that Jesus is calling out to you today, asking you to take up your cross and follow him. We believe that’s what love is all about.
Want to know more about us? The best way to find out what we’re all about is to see what we do. We invite you to come and worship with us on a Sunday. We especially invite those of you who are searching, skeptical, or suffering from wounds that have been inflicted on you by other Christians.
You’re also welcome to join us in any of our efforts at service to our community and to our world. And of course, our priest will be happy to talk with you and to answer any questions that you may have.
